The McAllen Chamber and H-E-B are planning the 2nd annual Tacos ‘n Tequila Craft Cocktail Showcase. This event will be held at the Chamber, 1200 Ash Ave., on Friday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the night before the 8th annual “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off and will feature 10 of our areas top local restaurants creating custom craft cocktails with Embajador Tequila. The event will also feature tacos made by The Republic of the Rio Grande, SALT – New American Table, Palenque Grill and H-E-B which will feature shrimp, fish, beef and quesadillas this year. We will have them served to guests as they enjoy the delicious craft cocktails and live musical performance.
Anyone 21 years and over can enjoy Tacos ‘n Tequila for $30 or pay $45 presale and attend the “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off scheduled for the following day, Saturday, March 9 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. The cook-off will feature 30 of our local BBQ Cook-off teams competing to see who creates the best Chicken Wings, Pulled Pork, Ribs, Brisket, Charro Beans and Pan de Campo. Attendees can sample all the meats plus enjoy a beverage garden and live music performed by four local bands. The cook-off will also feature a classic car show by the South Texas MOPAR Car Club. Anyone wanting to attend only the “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off can attend for $20. Children 10 and under accompanied by an adult eat free!
Tacos ‘n Tequila is scheduled for Friday, March 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off & Car Show is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.
